The Grand Oaks Speech & Debate Team is led by Coaches Audra Langston and Ryan Baker. Our students compete in a wide range of speech and debate events at the local, state, and national levels. Each year, we proudly host two major tournaments: The GOHS Speech & Debate Tournament and the Bluebonnet International World Schools Debate Tournament.

In the 2022–2023 season, we qualified over 40 students for TFA State and earned our program’s first TFA State Championship in Duet Acting with the celebrated performance of “Bad Words Part II.”

In the 2023–2024 season, our team continued to excel — qualifying 30 students for TFA State, competing at Harvard, becoming Miami’s Adelante International World Schools Debate Champions, and placing Top 5 at both the International Public Policy Forum (New York City) and the Tournament of Champions World Schools Debate. We also qualified seven students for NSDA Nationals, a tournament featuring over 7,000 competitors worldwide. Our students took on 16 unique debate topics, advancing in both Extemporaneous Debate (Top 10) and World Schools Debate (Top 20), proudly representing Texas on the national stage. That same season, Coach Audra Langston was honored as a 3-Diamond Coach at the NSDA National Assembly — a prestigious recognition of her leadership, commitment, and impact in the speech and debate community.

As we enter the 2025–2026 academic year, we are committed to building upon this legacy of achievement. With the support of our coaches, parents, and dedicated students, we remain focused on fostering excellence, integrity, leadership, and continuous growth within our program.
