Coach Ryan Baker

Coach Ryan Baker is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied history and government.

For the past five years, Coach Baker has dedicated himself to teaching competitive debate and expanding access to the activity through his work with the Houston Urban Debate League, serving students in underserved communities throughout the Houston area.

At Grand Oaks, Coach Baker brings that same passion and commitment to developing both new and experienced competitors. He works closely with students as they build their skills, find their strengths, and pursue success in speech and debate competition.

His experience, enthusiasm for the activity, and dedication to student growth make him an important part of the continued development of the Grand Oaks Speech & Debate program.

Mr. McCrea

Mr. Chris McCrea joined Grand Oaks as a first-year teacher after a career spanning more than 25 years in corporate leadership in the gas and chemical industries.

A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Mr. McCrea earned a BS in Economics and later an MBA in Finance from the University of Dayton. His background also includes service as a U.S. Army officer and extensive experience in communication, leadership, and negotiation.

He brought that professional experience and real-world perspective to his time with the Grand Oaks Speech & Debate program.
